War and Refugees
To assist those people who are from conflict and disaster areas. To promote the fair and humanitarian treatment of refugees, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, emphasizing the need to protect and support refugees in their temporary countries of residence and to enable them to return to their homelands as speedily and easily as possible.
To call upon host countries to do all in their power to facilitate the rights of refugees to family life, freedom of expression, religion; and the freedoms of association and travel within and beyond their countries of temporary residence.
To support and demand the universal application of the 1951 Convention on Human Rights, insisting on the need to reunite and regroup refugees, as well as the need to preserve the civilian and humanitarian character of refugee camps and their attendant facilities as declared in 1987 by the UNHCR’s Executive Committee.
Seek to end the recruitment and training of children into militias and armies and calls for the increased protection of children and the elderly in areas of conflict.
To call upon nations in dispute to supply accurate information as quickly as possible about civilians and combatants who are injured, missing or dead, so that families are aware of the status of their relations.
Youth Empowerment
To actively promote the right of young men and women to meaningful participate in the decision making process that affects their lives including but not limited to policy development and decision making at all levels.
To develop programs that will inspire, empower and grow the next generation of young leaders in Africa. ARIA International shall empower women through life skills training.
Education
ARIA promotes both formal and informal education by way of public lectures and transformational seminars, workshops or training programs for capacity development. This initiative involves university students, as appropriate, empowering them to assume active role in the social, cultural and political activities of their communities. Participate and actively engage in civic activities like spreading environmental awareness, protecting natural habitats, helping in community development.
We shall also engage in the construction of schools in the rural areas for primary education.
Health Sector
Provide medical equipments and training for local hospital staff.
Help improve primary health care, immunization campaign and outreach, provide clean drinking water, sanitation, training workers on HIV/AIDS educational awareness and prevention. To help fight eradicate malaria in Africa.
Target Groups
The target groups for these activities are the vulnerable, displaced persons and refugees in the following categories:
1. Orphans – ages 2 years to 16 years
2. Street children – ages 6 years to 16 years
3. Widows
4. Refugees
5. Community youth groups – ages 9 years to 16 years
6. HIV/AIDS sensitization
7. Women for HIV/AIDS sensitization
8. Local communities
9. Road constructions
10. Water and sanitation
Rehabilitation
Helping people to get back to normal life after a crisis has broadened ARIA’s scope of operations. Since its inception ARIA has been involved in such activity and has gained the experience and dealt with all aspect of the rehabilitation process. The process of rehabilitation takes a multifaceted approach as each crisis differs. Nonetheless, ARIA uses a generic approach to deal with the immediate problems which are providing safety and restoring the dignity of victims. We work with communities to identify areas of socioeconomic importance such as agriculture and food security, vocational life-skills training, micro-credit financing. These areas are critical in improving the livelihoods of communities returning to normal productive life.
Reconstruction
ARIA and her partners shall play a significant role in the reconstruction of communities destroyed by war and other disasters. The reconstruction process will take the form of rebuilding the social infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads, community centers and recreational parks.
Resettlement
ARIA considers the process of resettlement an integral part of its relief operations. The organization has been involved in all aspect of the resettlement process; internally and externally. ARIA has been active in resettling internally displaced persons or IDP to their familiar areas of residence as well as facilitating the resettlement abroad of those who are being persecuted for various reasons and whose lives and safety are in danger.
