Our members are involved in a wide range of activities that touch the lives of Africans throughout our operational areas. Most member organizations work at the grassroots level, empowering people to build a better future for their children, families, and communities.

Below you will find brief descriptions of positions, internships, and other opportunities for volunteers to work directly with our ARIA members and the people they help.

ARIA International is committed to providing its volunteers with a long-term experience that fosters cultural immersion and professional development. This long-term relationship also ensures that local communities are reaping the maximum benefits from our volunteer placements.

All Volunteers make a 6 – 12 month commitment

ARIA International operates Volunteer programs in Sierra Leone, Ghana and Liberia

ARIA International operates two kinds of programs for those looking to volunteer international: Classic and Supported. Both programs give volunteers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on local communities they serve.

How does it work?

You choose your placement based on your interests, skills, and background. During the predeparture assessment, you are provided with our exhaustive NGO Guide and choose your preferred placement sites. Our Country Head of Mission then works hard to find the best match for you based on your stated preferences and interests.

Once you arrive in the country, you will be interviewed by the Program Coordinator and select the placement site that is the best fit for you. Your role will depend on where you are in your professional career and what kind of experience you wish to have. We have opportunities available in Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Liberia.

Each program includes orientation, language training, cross-cultural studies, historical site tours, visits to development projects, and home stays with a local family.
